Hey everyone... I hope you enjoyed having Halwa.. This time i would like to provide a Vegetarian Roast Recipe. Its the delicious Chepang Kilangu roast recipe... It is one of the all time favorite for me and my husband... Its deep friend and rich in taste.

Chepang Kilangu Roast can be served with sambar rice, curd rice, dal rice, lemon rice and so on... Your meal is complete with chepang kilangu roast...
Prep time: 5-10 mins Cook time: 30 mins
Serves: 2
Ingredients
- 200gm Chepang Kilangu
- Oil for Deep fry
- 3 Red chili
- 3 tbsp Coriander seeds
- 1/2 tsp Poppy seeds(Kasa kasa) or Cashews 3-4
- 5 Pearl Onion
- 2-3 Garlic
- 1/8 tsp Perungayam/Asafoetida
- Few Curry leaves
- Salt to taste
- 2-3 tbsp Oil
Procedure
1. If you are using fresh arvi, pressure cook arvi in enough water for 3 minutes after the first whistle. Then drain the water, peel the skin and cut into desired shape.
If its frozen arvi, blanch it for 1-2 minutes and spread it in paper towel to remove excess water.
If its frozen arvi, blanch it for 1-2 minutes and spread it in paper towel to remove excess water.
2. Heat oil in Kadai (Karahi) and fry the arvi in batches for 2-3 minutes. Do not overcrowd the kadai .It may take more time for Arvi to roast.
3. Drain the excess oil in a paper towel.
If you don't want arvi roast spicy you can just add salt to this roasted arvi and serve it without masala.
Optional: If you want it spicy, follow the below steps to add masala to it.
4. Grind red chili, coriander seeds, kasa kasa, onion, garlic and asafoetida into a smooth paste with little water.
5. Heat the pan or kadai with oil. Once the oil is hot, add curry leaves and the ground masala.
6. Sauté the masala in the medium flame until the raw smell goes off.
Optional: If you want it spicy, follow the below steps to add masala to it.
4. Grind red chili, coriander seeds, kasa kasa, onion, garlic and asafoetida into a smooth paste with little water.
5. Heat the pan or kadai with oil. Once the oil is hot, add curry leaves and the ground masala.
6. Sauté the masala in the medium flame until the raw smell goes off.
7. When the raw smell goes, add salt to taste and then add roasted arvi.
8. Mix masala well with arvi and cook for 2 more minutes.
9. And there it is !!! Serve it with rice and enjoy an exquisite meal !!
You have to always buy chepang kilangu a week prior you cook it, or else you could get an itchy toungue. You don't have to worry about it If your going to use frozen chepang kilangu. I have used frozen Arvi to make this recipe.
